Psalm 45:1-2
45 My heart overflows with a good theme;
I address my verses to the King;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
2 You are fairer than the sons of men;
Grace is poured upon Your lips;
Therefore God has blessed You forever.
I love these verses because they are so worshipful and you can sense the awe and reverence that the author had for the Lord as he wrote these words. This morning I was really struggling. I was in prayer and asking the Lord about the state of things and why some prayers that I have prayed for a long time seem to not be answered. And He let me have my pity party for a few minutes, and then He began to remind me of His faithfulness. He reminded me of that scripture in 1 Samuel, where it says that David was so distressed because of his situation but he strengthened himself in the Lord. And this is how we do it. We rehearse God’s goodness and faithfulness - not only in moments of victory. But at low moments and in dark times too, because that will give us the strength and the right perspective to move forward. And to me these are two verses to meditate on to bring me back to that place of right perspective, so I hope they encourage you today too.
