Isaiah 48:17-18 - the Lord is rebuking and instructing the Israelites for their stubbornness in idolatry and He’s speaking to them through the prophet Isaiah about His desire to rescue them and bring them back to Himself.
17 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel,
“I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit,
Who leads you in the way you should go.
18 “If only you had paid attention to My commandments!
Then your well-being would have been like a river,
And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
The Lord was speaking to me about peace this morning and how to live in peace and be a person who carries peace. And the key to staying in peace is here. Pay attention to the Lord’s commandments. Jesus taught us about the Lord’s commandments in Matthew 22:38-40, the first and greatest commandment is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all of your soul and with all of your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and Prophets. Love is the key to personal peace, and when you carry personal peace it flows from you like a river.
