““I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless. If a person is separated from me, he is discarded; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire to be burned. But if you live in life-union with me and if my words live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done. When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are my mature disciples who glorify my Father!”
This is a reminder that our source of wisdom, energy, strength and fruitfulness is the Lord. That we don’t need to strive or strain on our own. Our part is to remain connected to Him and to work in partnership with Him doing what He has called us to do. We can only be fruitful in Him, and apart from Him we can do nothing. A great reminder to stay plugged into the Source of life, wisdom and godliness as we go about the work He has called each of us to do.
Anything else Lord? If we get disconnected from the Source that’s where stress and the feeling that we have to do it all in our own strength comes in. And this verse right here tells us that we are not able to sustain anything apart from Him for very long. At least not anything that will bear good fruit. So an encouragement today to stay plugged into Jesus and to draw your strength from Him.
