”When people work, they earn wages. It can’t be considered a free gift, because they earned it. But no one earns God’s righteousness. It can only be transferred when we no longer rely on our own works, but believe in the one who powerfully declares the ungodly to be righteous in his eyes. It is faith that transfers God’s righteousness into your account!“
God loves it when we serve one another, when we do work that blesses His children, that encourages His ministers, that beautifies our community, that strengthens, unites and brings a sense of security to our families. But no amount of work will be enough for any of us to be declared righteous. Psalm 53 tells us that not one is righteous, that all have turned aside from the Lord and His ways. That is why Jesus -- the only sinless and perfect human -- came to be the sacrifice for us, so we could be made the righteousness of God. It is Jesus who is our righteousness. And His righteousness, His unblemished perfection is transferred to us by faith, when we acknowledge that we are sinful and put our trust in Him. That’s when the miraculous transfer takes place. He receives our sin, that He already paid the full price for. And we receive His righteousness and forgiveness that makes us whole. So my encouragement today is -- keep being a blessing. Keep doing good work that honors the Lord. But fully and completely put your trust in Him and His finished work on the Cross. Because that is what transforms you and brings eternal security.
