How easily we get puffed up over our opinions! But love builds up the structure of our new life. If anyone thinks of himself as a know-it-all, he still has a lot to learn. But if a person passionately loves God, he will possess the knowledge of God.
Passionately loving God is the key to humility. It positions us to pursue God for the answers we are seeking. It positions us for discernment, because instead of reflexively believing what is being reported or taught as fact, we can set it all before the Lord and Holy Spirit will guide us to the truth. Passionately loving God is the key to wisdom. Proverbs 2:3-6 says it this way, “Yes cry out for comprehension and intercede for insight. For if you keep seeking it like a man would seek for sterling silver, searching in hidden places for cherished treasure, then you will discover the fear of the Lord and find the true knowledge of God. Wisdom is a gift from a generous God, and every word he speaks is full of revelation and becomes a fountain of understanding within you.” So my challenge today to us is this: let’s make it a point to take a step back from the news or whatever we are studying. And spend some time in worship to recalibrate our thinking and emotions, so we can hear what the Lord is saying. And He can lead us to the truth.
