#324We Have Kept Score & Other Happenings

”Now Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the settlers of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, surely there shall be neither dew nor rain these years, except by my word.” The word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Go away from here and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. It shall be that you will drink of the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to provide for you there.” So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and lived by the brook Cherith, which is east of the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he would drink from the brook.“

Because Elijah was faithful in the assignment that the Lord gave Him, because He stayed connected to the Lord and was listening for His voice, the Lord provided food and water for him supernaturally. Let this be an encouragement today. If you live in connection with the Lord, and you have heard from Him about what it is you’re supposed to be doing -- He will be faithful to provide. But it does take obedience and effort on our part. Elijah had to move to where the Lord instructed. He had to get up and go to the brook when he was thirsty. He probably had to go outside to receive the food from the ravens. Don’t be in disobedience to the Lord because you don’t understand how the finances will work or how the pieces will come together. He will work out the details. Our job is to be obedient, to trust and to seek Him daily further instruction.
