”Let me hear Your lovingkindness in the morning; For I trust in You; Teach me the way in which I should walk; For to You I lift up my soul. Deliver me, O Lord, from my enemies; I take refuge in You. Teach me to do Your will, For You are my God; Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.“
To stay on the right path, we have to seek the Lord daily. I’ve heard this pastor once say -- some people say they don’t want Holy Spirit in their church. But I need Holy Spirit all day every day. I can’t even go to Wal-Mart without Holy Spirit. That should be our attitude -- in verse 6 of this same chapter, David says, I stretch out my hands to You. My soul longs for You as a dry and thirsty place where there is no water. We need to live with a real unquenchable, desperate need for the Presence and voice of the Lord. That is the only way to stay in humility and to stay on the right path. I also love this scripture because David asks for God’s spirit to lead him onto level ground. So often we talk about the uneven playing field that people in pursuit of truth and honesty and justice have to play on. Well, David must have had an uneven playing field too - but he asked the Lord to lead him to level ground. I think that’s a key for us and something we should be praying, so that we can have more victories.
