#299 Personal & State Sovereignty

”All his loving priests who serve and sing, come and sing your song of blessing to God. Come and stand before him in the house of God throughout the night watch, lifting up your hands in holy worship; come and bless the Lord! May the Lord, whom you worship, the mighty maker of heaven and earth, bless you from Zion’s glory!“

I believe this is another aspect of service to the Lord that is going to be increasingly important, that is worship through the night. Fasting is an act of service that draws us closer to the Lord by depriving ourselves of food and bringing our body and soul into submission - not letting our stomachs and minds rule us but instead choosing to dedicate that time and energy to seeking the Lord. This night watch worship is similar to fasting but instead we forgo sleep in order to ensure that the Lord is blessed and honored even as the rest of the world sleeps. When David recovered the Ark of the Covenant, he established a tent for it in which the priests were to serve the Lord 24/7 with prayers, worship and sacrifice. Notably, his son Solomon inherited the greatest time of peace and prosperity perhaps in all of human history since Eden. I am convinced that there is a direct connection between brining a sacrifice of praise - truly sacrificial praise - in the night hours and around the clock is a key to blessing the next generation with peace and prosperity.
