”Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives, as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. It is pleasing to our Savior-God to pray for them. He longs for everyone to embrace his life and return to the full knowledge of the truth.“
It’s critical that we pray for our political leaders -- both those who are walking with the Lord and fighting on our behalf and those who seem to be way off course. Because as the passage says, the Lord longs for everyone to embrace life in Him and return to the full knowledge of the truth. I was struck this morning by that phrase return to the full knowledge of the truth - because it implies that they once had the full knowledge of the truth and left it. At a minimum it must refer to the what Isaiah foretold that after the Messiah came, people would have the truth written in their hearts. So let’s use that as our prayer today, that all of our political leaders would return to the full knowledge of the truth -- which is the truth that the Lord has written on their hearts.
