Don’t compare yourself to the rich. Surrender your selfish ambition and evaluate them properly. For no sooner do you start counting your wealth than it sprouts wings and flies away like an eagle in the sky— here today, gone tomorrow!“
Proverbs 23:4-5 TPT
Comparison is the thief of joy. Whether we’re comparing status, wealth, looks, health or anything else. Comparison can either bring undue pride or that sense of not being good enough. And neither is the posture that the Lord wants for us. 1 Thessalonians 5 tells us to be thankful in all things, because this is God’s will for us in Christ Jesus. Here we are in November, the season of Thanksgiving for Americans. And we have so much to be thankful for. Allow me to caution us all to guard our hearts and minds against comparison. Instead let’s take those thoughts of comparison and turn them into opportunities to thank God for who He is, what He has done in our lives and the blessings and opportunities He has given us. Because He is absolutely good.
