”Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To surrender yourselves to God to be his sacred, living sacrifices. And live in holiness, experiencing all that delights his heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.“
Lately the scripture has been so convicting to me. Every time I have picked up the Bible to read it this week, I have seen my flaws, my faults, my deficiencies and it’s reminded that when we read the scriptures and judge our lives against them, we can see how short we fall of the Lord’s standard. We can also see how far He’s brought us, how much He has changed us. It can be so tempting for us to compare ourselves to people we admire, to friends, even to enemies. But that’s not where we get a true measure of who we are and how the Lord is transforming our character. If we want a fair measurement, the Word of God is the one true measure.
