#200 Interview with Speaker Johnson

”If you burn away the impurities from silver, a sterling vessel will emerge from the fire. And if you purge corruption from the kingdom, a king’s reign will be established in righteousness.“

As citizens, we have a role to play in purging corruption from our state and nation. It begins with exposure and local accountability. We cannot be afraid of elected officials any longer. It is time for more and more of us to stand up and call out corruption and the appearance of corruption -- starting at the parish level. If elected officials know that the citizens are watching, they will have to behave differently and it may just get too uncomfortable for them to remain in their position. If we want a state and a nation built on righteousness and justice, if we want a state and nation that operates under honorable, trustworthy leadership -- it has to start at home, and it has to start with us. We have to demand it.
