”So keep coming to him who is the Living Stone —though he was rejected and discarded by men but chosen by God and is priceless in God’s sight. Come and be his “living stones” who are continually being assembled into a sanctuary for God. For now you serve as holy priests, offering up spiritual sacrifices that he readily accepts through Jesus Christ. For it says in Scripture: Look! I lay a cornerstone in Zion, a chosen and priceless stone! And whoever believes in him will certainly not be disappointed.“
So much of what the Lord has been encouraging me with in the last few weeks has been about patient endurance, about continuing to fight the good fight, about staying the course. This passage does the same. Peter is encouraging us to continually come to the one who is the Living Stone, Jesus - the Solid Rock - the one upon whom our faith is built. We are to come and be strong building blocks of His Kingdom who offer spiritual sacrifices, like obedience, worship, acts of kindness and help to those in need. As we continue to come back to Jesus and make Him the cornerstone and the centerpiece of our life, we will not be disappointed. One version says that we will not be put to shame. So be encouraged, as we continue to make Jesus first and follow in His ways, we will see that He is always faithful in our lives.
