”As a prisoner of the Lord, I plead with you to walk holy, in a way that is suitable to your high rank, given to you in your divine calling. With tender humility and quiet patience, always demonstrate gentleness and generous love toward one another, especially toward those who may try your patience. Be faithful to guard the sweet harmony of the Holy Spirit among you in the bonds of peace, being one body and one spirit, as you were all called into the same glorious hope of divine destiny. For the Lord God is one, and so are we, for we share in one faith, one baptism, and one Father. And he is the perfect Father who leads us all, works through us all, and lives in us all!“
This is a message for believers -- and an instruction for the way to we are to operate. We have talked a lot about discernment lately. This scripture is not saying that we need to be in harmony with people who are working against the cause of Christ and working against truth. This is saying that for those of us who are going in the same direction and need to work together, those of us who love the Lord -- let’s do everything in our power to live in harmony, to give grace to one another and to be at peace with each other -- because we are brothers and sisters in Christ. We share the same hope, the same redemption, the same faith and the same Father. We all operate differently, and we all bring something different to the table. Let this be an encouragement and a reminder to love and give grace to the people God has put in our circle -- the ones He has called you to run, work and build with. We need each other to get where we’re going.
