#161 Bioweapons & Treaties w/ Dr. Meryl Nass (Part 2)

“You’re only truly happy when you walk in total integrity, walking in the light of God’s Word. What joy overwhelms everyone who keeps the ways of God, those who seek him as their heart’s passion! They’ll never do what’s wrong but will always choose the paths of the Lord. God has prescribed the right way to live: obeying his laws with all our hearts. How I long for my life to bring you glory as I follow each and every one of your holy precepts! Then I’ll never be ashamed, for I take strength from all your commandments. I will give my thanks to you from a heart of love and truth. And every time I learn more of your righteous judgments, I will be faithful to all that your Word reveals— so don’t ever give up on me!”

You know -- life and politics and relationships can feel complicated sometimes. What I’ve found and I think what this verse alludes to -- is that  one sure way to be miserable is to do things our own way in our own strength. No matter how complicated and tangled the situation, no matter how contentious the issue or what advice is being given from other people -- if we just bring the matter to God, if we honestly look at it in light of His Word -- the answer is usually pretty simple and straightforward. It may not be the easy choice, but God’s answers and His Word are usually not complicated. In this passage the Psalmist is reminding us of how to live with a clear conscience free from the entanglements and complications that come our way. It’s so simple, yet we when we’re under pressure, it can be so easy to forget. Judge everything according to scripture. Live in pursuit of God’s heart and seek to know His ways. Repent when you get it wrong and let God’s mercy help you to start fresh. If we live like this, we can live clear of a heart and mind full of turmoil, anxiety and stress. And that frees us up to do the work He’s called us to do. It frees us up mentally and emotionally to be available to the people He puts in our life and path.
